The accountability ledger
A data centre is approved by a government, financed by investors, underwritten by pension and sovereign wealth funds, and filled by the companies that lease its capacity. No link gets to look away. Each now has a question to answer.
If a facility is not Fair Data Centre™ certified, it cannot demonstrate that it is not depleting the water, land and power a community depends on — and every link in its chain shares that. Certification is how you prove otherwise. Transparency is no longer optional.
Make no mistake
India and the Global South deserve the compute economy — the investment, the capability, the jobs, the sovereignty. We want these centres built, and built here. We are unambiguously pro-growth and pro-development.
Not at the cost of a nation’s communities. Not on water a city cannot spare, land taken without consent, or power a grid cannot carry. Growth that hollows out the community it lands in is not development — it is extraction with a press release.

The instruments
No facility-level data on water, energy, land or jobs exists publicly. We build it — an open, independent registry across India and the Global South. Whoever owns the numbers owns the debate, and we intend to own them.
Five pillars, environmental and social, verified by independent auditors — with a community-consent floor that can block a certification outright, and a bar that tightens every cycle.

Constitute the Council; convene the founding coalition; build the Observatory’s first record; publish the standard; open the first reckonings with operators and capital.
Finalise the standard through consultation; certify the first facilities; open the Observatory to the public; bring finance and government to the table; constitute the India chapter.

Why we cannot be bought
A watchdog owned by the industry it watches is worthless. So we separate the two, and entrench the protections.
